Location of Villa Fyn

Villa Fyn is located on the Western shore of Lake Como with views across the lake to Bellano, Varenna, Bellagio and Menaggio. The villa is about 6 kms north of Menaggio in the village of Acquaseria with a population of about 1800 in the commune of San Siro. San Siro is approximately 38 km from Como.

Commune of San Siro

San Siro features the lakeside villages of Acquaseria and Rezzonico and many charming villages climbing the mountain rising up from the lake. There is much to explore in the area, from the 15th century Dominican Santa Maria Assunta Church, ruins of ancient convents and fortresses, old fountains, a museum of rural life, chapels and narrow cobblestone streets featuring charming trattorias and bars. At every corner there are spectacular views of Lake Como.

Authentic Italian Living

Away from the busy tourist area of Como, you are immersed in a truly authentic part of the Lake, home to many Italian couples and families renowned for their warm and welcoming hospitality. Villa Fyn is within walking distance of the villages of Acquaseria and Rezzonico, where you will find many bars, ristorantes , and small village shops where you’ll find all the provisions you need.
Lugano and Como are approximately one hour away with St Moritz an hour and a half drive away.

Markets

An experience you can’t miss - discover wonderful open air markets featuring fresh local Italian produce, from cheeses, olives, vine grown tomatoes to locally produced wine. Buy some crusty Italian bread, prosciutto and cheese and have lunch overlooking the lake under the olive tree. This really is la Dolce Vita!

Transport

Guests have commented that once arriving at Villa Fyn, they haven’t wanted to leave! It is entirely possible to get by without a car and rely on public transport and your legs. This is part of the charm of spending some time in this beautiful part of the lake.
However, if you’d like to hire a car, the whole lake is yours to explore. A representative from the local agency which manages Villa Fyn, will provide you with more details about getting around the area, but here’s a general outline.

On foot

The villa is within walking distance of the villages of Acquaseria and Rezzonico and there are many walking tracks which meander through the hills. There is a stunning ‘Mule track walk from Acquaseria to Rezzonico through hamlets and chestnut woods.
The Strada Regina is an ancient track from Breglia to Rezzonico which follows a small part of the antique Roman transit road to the alpine passes.

Car

Villa Fyn has space for 3 cars, with an extra car park on the road level. With a car, you have access to the many little villages at the top of the hill. Como and Lugano are roughly an hour’s drive away and St Moritz is 1 ½ hours away.

Bus

If you prefer not to hire a car, local transport is economical and efficient. There is a C10 bus stop across the road from Villa Fyn which takes a panoramic route up the Western side of the lake from Como to Colico. There is also the C12 bus from Menaggio which goes across the border to Lugano in Switzerland (a 40 minute trip).  There is also a C30 bus which goes from Como to Bellagio.

Ferry (Traghetti) / Yacht charters

Menaggio has a ferry terminal and from here you can take a ferry to the ‘mid lake triangle’ of Menaggio, Bellagio and Varenna. Or take the slow ferry from Donga to Como, stopping at all the lovely little villages along the way. For the more adventurous, charter a yacht or motor boat and set your own course around the Lake from Menaggio, Donga or Gravadonna!

How to get there

The nearest airport is Milan Malpensa (about 85 Km).

The nearest train station is Como san Giovanni or Varenna (Varenna is on the other side of the lake and then there is a ferry to cross the lake).
